Finally, one of the more interesting (to me) and plausible (to me) themes of the 2000s era retelling of the TTB story is this:

TTB was friends with William Stephenson, the infamous Canadian radio tycoon / WW2 spymaster, responsible for setting up the OSS and bringing the USA into WW2 on the side of the UK. So much, so normal, or as normal as military/intelligence work ever gets.

The interesting part of the story is that allegedly Stephenson post-WW2 set up shop *outside* the US military.

And that also post-WW2, Stephenson's private intelligence network was deeply interested in the UFO problem, and kept its findings on that subject, if any, to itself and outside the whole militar and governmental classification system. Perhaps continuing to do so to this day. That Stephenson's off-the-books network might in fact be the "UFO control group" whispered about for decades. Don't look at the legitimate military, in other words, for any hidden "tech" - look at military *contractors*.
