Can’t even seek through songs.
Soooo, pandora?

I bet you all don’t even know what ROI means.
Spotify kind of sucks. I’ve been using Bandcamp for years (though they sold to epic and then got sold to some vultures, so they might be doomed)
If I buy one album a month for a year, that’s about the same as a subscription except I get to keep what I bought. And after a few years I have a big library and don’t need to buy as much. And the musicians get a bigger cut.
If you’re listening to stuff that’s not on Bandcamp I don’t know what to tell you. Probably buy it from elsewhere, or if it’s old just pirate it because it should be public domain anyway.
GOT IT
Ah yes that’s where their development resources for all the last 5 years went: fucking up the paid experience with minor tweaks and fucking up the free experience with major tweaks.
I pay for this shit for my whole family and don’t know a service with anywhere near the same library, I’d jump ship in a heartbeat to a service with both a complete music library and a first-class podcast listening experience for web/PC users.
Spotify is very easy to crack, at least on Android

Why do companies feel compelled to punish people who use their free product?
Companies don’t exist out of generosity. When Spotify looses money from non-premium users, they obviously want to encourage you to buy premium. They probably had to make the decision to play more ads or do this and decided that this makes more sense
I am on lemmy right?
I only skimmed, but not one single suggestion to federated our music? Isn’t that what we need to do now, and not for downloading, simply sharing libraries. It’s out there…
This is completely unacceptable. I’m paying nothing and I want more from the service or else I’m taking my freeloading ass elsewhere! If all you other cheap bastards join me, collectively we’ll show these corporate bigwigs and they’ll be on their knees for our unpaid usage to return.

Let me get this straight: you’re taking pride in bootlegging content? How can you just laugh about shamelessly stealing from artists you like?

Fucking LMAO
if you seriously think that artists make any money that matters from Spotify you have been drinking the corporate koolaid mate.
Artists who do make money out of Spotify are already multi milionares and do not need it.
So if I understand your position correctly, you feel entitled to free content because the artists already have what you have determined to be enough money?
What a way to misrepresent my argument, holy moly.
I don’t feel entitled to anything, never said so in any way whatsoever. You are only claiming that because you argue in bad faith.
Let me spell it out for you: artists who need money don’t make a living out of Spotify. They make pennies on the dollar. They make money from patreon, merch, deals or if they are famous enough, concerts.
People who do make enough money to (in theory) make a living from Spotify are millionares already.
If you think millonares need more money you are delusional.
Again, if I reformat your argument, what you are saying is that it is better to not pay musicians at all through services like Spotify or YouTube Music and continue to steal their content, regardless of how famous or rich they are. Unless I have missed something, that is the essence of what you are saying.
You go ahead and argue with strawmen aight?
Conversation with bad faith people like you is completely worthless
You’re pathetic lol
I think the artists are paid better and fairly in other platforms like bandcamp or by concerts. The amount they get paid in Spotify is so low, regardless of whether their listeners have the premium subscription or not.
That may be true, but the comment I’m replying to is endorsing bootlegging content and not paying artists at all.

Not just artists!
I don’t mind paying for music
Truly amazing. 2023 really is the year for less for more
Spotify is now a Pandora knockoff.
I’ve been using pandora this entire time.
Never really understood why people pay to stream songs when everything is on youtube for free.
Kinda tough on a phone. Screen goes off, music stops. I know there are ways to get around it that yt doesn’t want you to do but that is beside the point of “youtube is free”. Everything is free if you do it that way.
Literally none of those were options on the radio unless you were recording it (and cassette tapes still cost money.)
